I recently received this text from a patient I have only seen a couple of times.

“Hi Monica! I just wanted to tell you that, despite my lower back hurting, I was just able to walk about a mile in Mt Airy for a music festival. I was never able to walk that far without sitting down 20 times. There was no sciatic pain on the right side going down my leg and no foot numbness on my right foot. I owe that to you.”

Helping people heal and watching them get stronger, feel more empowered, have less p...

For several years now, I’ve been walking by a store near my house called The Nesting House, a children’s consignment store that also has some thoughtfully-selected new items as well. I recently had a friend who is pregnant come visit me, so I finally had an excuse to stop in and explore.

The West Philly location of The Nesting House (they also have locations in South Philly, Mt. Airy, and Collingswood, NJ, or you can order many of their inventory online!) is a true delight. It’s beautifully...

I awoke about a week ago (Tuesday May 22nd, 2018 to be exact) having had a beautiful dream about visiting a river in Northern California. I had taken a train (some kind of public transit that also ran through San Francisco) to its final stop, gotten out, and found myself surrounded by trees and by other people who had come to this place to restore themselves in nature.

The trees were so damp and so green. Everyone was happy.

I found a shallow river (more like a creek) with a rotting and damp...

I recently went to a potluck at a friend of a friend’s house. This was someone I vaguely knew from my neighborhood but wasn’t well acquainted with.

When I arrived, the host greeted me with a warm hug, and said, “Welcome Home.”

I was profoundly moved by this greeting! My eyes filled with tears.

It was the end of a busy day and though I was coming to the potluck from the place I live (my technical home), I had been in motion all day long, and not always as present as maybe I would like to be.

So...

"Am I worthy of support?" Yes! Yes yes yes DEFINITELY YES you are without a doubt worthy of support!

But so many of us struggle with not feeling worthy or with feeling like we are “too much.” Several people I’ve been working with lately have apologized to me for “being a mess” or they’ve expressed guilt for feeling like they’ve given me “too much” to help them with.

I’ve been there before. Feeling like too much. Feeling like I’m not worthy of support. Feeling embarrassed about how I’m feelin...

It's easy to feel exhausted, depleted, worn out, or disheartened during the end of wintertime. We may feel like we have burned through our emotional or energetic reserves and we may just be itching for spring!

But all of us have resources available to us. Even in our darkest days, we can find support. I recently made you a video about this! My heart has been heavy with the pain in the world. If you've been struggling too, this video has a simple exercise to help you connect to all that is n...

I was chopping green beans the other day when I suddenly remembered KITCHEN SHEARS! Growing up, my mom never had scissors/kitchen shears in the kitchen, but my boyfriend Hanbit regularly cuts our food prep time in half by taking kitchen shears to almost everything! They’re great for chopping up bok choy or kale or big late-summer salad greens.

I love watching Hanbit go at it and shear everything up with wild artistic abandon that produces variant textures and shapes. And, yes, they work on...
