"When I think about work I need to do in the days ahead, I don't feel overwhelmed anymore;

just clear about what I need to do, and not emotionally dragged down".

I recently spent four days at a Five Element Acupuncture retreat. Most of the people had been practicing acupuncture for more than 20 years. The two women leading the workshop had 95 years of experience between them.

It’s hard to not compare. To not assume that I wouldn’t not do well simply because I don’t have that length of learning behind me.

We spent four days seeing patients and taking turns interviewing patients, taking pulses, locating points, needling, treating. Those four days were...

Congrats! You made it. Today is the first day of Spring (according to the Chinese calendar). I know we’ve been in a cold snap lately, but, take heart! The buds are preparing for Spring!!

If you made New Year’s resolutions that didn’t quite stick, or if you were waiting to move towards manifesting new growth, today might be the best day of the year to pause, check in, and reflect on how you want to grow!

Chinese New Year is known in China as “Spring Festival.” This day triggers a mass migrati...

Someone I have been working with recently asked me “Did you do something to help me change my career?”

She told me that six months ago (about the time we started working together), she would never have felt strong enough to start taking the steps she was now taking towards making a significant career change, but now she was feeling so much stronger overall, with less anxiety and a lot more confidence in herself.

That’s the kind of side-effect I love!

Occasionally patients are confused on the...

I recently teamed up with Philly Power Yoga and Thrive Pilates (at 20th and Walnut), where I was taking luxuriously-sweaty heated yoga classes this past summer, to offer a winter-themed seasonal health workshop.

This workshop is awesome for anyone who struggles with the dark and the cold. If you have seasonal depression or just feel restless and worn down by winter, this workshop is for you.

We will explore the hidden gifts and opportunities of this special season and we will also address ho...

Scarcity has a bad reputation. When I think of scarcity, I think of fear, starvation, depletion of resources, loneliness, isolation, and generally not having enough. When I do get caught up in the negative effects of scarcity-thinking (or scarcity-experiencing), it’s easy to feel flooded by stress hormones, to feel stuck in that fear-based place of “I don’t have enough!!!” or “I myself am not enough, I can’t do this!!!!”

But if we can step back and separate scarcity itself from the underlyi...

Do you crave a resting place?

So many of us are stressed-out beyond what we think is healthy! It’s easy to get all-consumed by work, by life, by our relationships.

When you reach your max, or ideally before, what you need is a nice time out.

Though it doesn’t always sound relaxing to lie around with needles, many people find acupuncture a pleasant break, an amazing reset, an opportunity to really check in and find out how you feel.

I made this (less than one minute!) video to help you define w...

A few weeks ago, I felt crushed by despair after a big disappointment at my (other) work. As the (part-time) Wellness Administrator at Drexel University, I oversee employee wellness opportunities for 5,000 people who have become so incredibly dear to my heart.

In the treatment room, I work singularly, one-on-one, and at Drexel, I touch 5,000 people all at once (!!!) every time I offer a new event, program, or initiative. The two seem very different sometimes, but both are aligned with my vi...

While acupuncture is often thought of for relief from physical pain, this complete system of medicine moves so far beyond that!

I’ve recently helped people with post-surgical pain that their doctor said was “incurable,” super-painful rectal spasms that Western Medicine said there was no treatment for, menstrual cramps that had been lived with for more than a decade, and recovery from trauma that had caused daily anxiety for years.

The magic of acupuncture is that it leverages your internal r...

If you’ve ever been sick, stressed, or have just felt stuck, you’re probably feeling worn down and exhausted, unsure about what to do next or how to proceed. Maybe you’re trying lots of different things but none of them seem to be working. Maybe your impulse is to just keep pushing through, but you end up worn down, and what you really want seems even further away. Maybe you aren’t sure what you really want, or why you want it, so you have no idea how to get there.

These simple steps will h...

“In addition to spending a lot of time conversing with my brain cells, I’m having a big love-fest with the fifty trillion molecular geniuses making up my body. I am so grateful that they are alive and working together in perfect harmony that I implicitly trust them to bring me health. The first thing every morning and the last thing every night, I faithfully hug my pillow, wrap one hand in the other, and consciously thank my cells for another great day. I care enough to say it out loud. ‘T...
