Healing Your Heart this Summer
Flowers always help my heart feel connected to love. Whether I’m happy, or sad, or depleted, or joyful, I often turn to flowers to meet my needs for beauty and comfort and for that feeling of being “plugged-in” and part of the world.
I think it’s because flowers spring forth from the humility of the earth and represent creativity and perseverance to me. Plants never question if they should grow or not. They just keep reaching towards the light.
As we head into summer, the season of peak performance--when everything in nature blossoms to its fullest potential and we as humans stretch out our limbs and relax into the warmth of these long, lazy days--I would love to invite you to take ten minutes today to bring comfort and beauty and joy to your heart.
Pause and take a few deep breathes and ask yourself: “What am I needing right now? How is my heart? What would help me feel settled and complete?”
Maybe it’s flowers, maybe it’s flowers PLUS a baby watermelon (yep, you can buy both: I certainly did!!), or maybe it’s a ten minute walk, a decision to go to bed twenty minutes earlier than planned, phoning a friend you’ve been missing, or anything else that brings peace to your heart.
Summer is the time of the heart in Chinese Medicine and it’s a beautiful time of year to form a loving relationship with yourself so that you can feel plugged into the world.
I would love to hear what you do to nourish your heart. Is it enjoying a ripe piece of fruit that you had forgotten tasted so sweet in season? (Peaches are returning to the Farmer’s Market very soon!) Do you love bobbing in the ocean? Walking in the early evening hours when the weather has cooled off?
Drop me a line if you feel inspired to share what brings your heart joy.
As always, if you or someone you love is struggling with ongoing health concerns, feeling disconnected or worn-down by life, consider reaching out to me for a free consultation. We’ll talk about where you are now and where you want to be and we’ll work together to figure out if I’m the best fit for wanting you’re wanting in your heart.
Wishing you much love this summer season,
