Why Eat "Sour Foods?

 The “sour” flavor in Chinese Medicine is associated with Springtime. Foods classified as “sour” include vinegar, lemon, tomatoes, pineapple, oranges, and olives. Sour foods in Chinese Medicine have an “astringent” property. Astringent means that these foods help to pull together fluids in the body. So if you’re having loose stools or lots of sweating, these foods can help pull those fluids together for you.

Having a few more sour foods during this time of year can help you pull together your thoughts and focus in. Try having some lemon water next time you feel scattered.
