Some people who are new to acupuncture are surprised by the variability that can occur between acupuncturists and even from one treatment to the next with the same acupuncturist.

Even if two acupuncturists arrive at the same diagnosis, acupuncture relies on personalized treatment strategies which means that no two people (even those with seemingly the same symptoms) will receive the same treatment.

Acupuncture is a contextual medicine that will take into account your overall presentation, symptoms, and even the season and the context of how your energy is on a particular day.

For those of us used to Western Medicine treatments, which boast a conveyor-belt style/decision tree of standardized solutions, this approach can sometimes be confusing at first, but it often becomes relieving once someone starts understanding that Chinese medicine will (ideally) be tailored to your individual needs.

It’s also very true that the acupuncturist you work with matters. Some acupuncturists are more technical and are really interested in pathology (disease progression).

I totally get that, and I am endlessly amazed by the human body and all its variations, but I’ve always been more interested in potential–how can I help this person leverage their resources and really thrive? (And what does thriving actually look like for this particular individual?)

I always advise people who are new to acupuncture to find a practitioner who they are comfortable with. Whoever you choose you will be working closely alongside them, and you want someone you jive with and trust.

That may not be me, and that’s fine. I have a wide range of referral potentials if you want something different from what I offer.

In the meantime, inspired by my favorite bakery, which recently sent out a AI recap of their reviews, I thought it would be fun to ask Chat GPT to summarize all of my google reviews and other info from the internet about my business.

Here’s what Chat GPT discovered. (The emojis, charmingly, were supplied by AI).
