Today marks the FIRST DAY of the SECOND DECADE of my acupuncture practice! On September 4, 2014 I had my first day of work as an acupuncturist at my first location, Studio 34 Yoga.
I had exactly ONE patient for that entire day and she was an early-bird, so my workday was over by 9:00am. I still remember so many details from that first encounter. It felt magical to be at the beginning, and my work feels magical still.
September 4th is also my birthday. It just so happens that, in 2014, September 4th fell on a Thursday, the day of the week on which I rented my weekly wellness room at Studio 34. One month later, my acupuncturist told me that a room was available in Center City and I also started practicing there, much sooner than I thought there would be space for me to settle in.
In some ways, looking back, not many things have changed. I’m still in the same two locations, and I still love my job.
In other ways, 10 years feels like a long time. I felt like I knew “enough” to get started back in 2014. And though I am continuously within the learning process, and never anywhere close to the “endpoint” of wisdom, I now feel more seasoned and more settled within my craft.
To each and every one of you who have read this newsletter, come in as a patient, left me a google review, sent me a referral, or simply wished me well, thank you.
My practice is interwoven with the beautiful community of people I care for and I am always incredibly grateful for each of you.
In the coming day, week, months, year, years, may we continue to share our hearts with those we care about. And may we continue to feel safe and seen in doing so.
