Expand Your Heart & Feel More Resonance This Summer

Hi friends, We’re sliding towards summer now, and summer is the season of joy and of sharing from the heart. I’ve been learning more about acupuncture channel theory lately and have been thinking a lot about connective tissue and fascia, the network that literally helps to hold us together and which helps transmit electrical signals and currents.
Did you know that blood, adipose (fat) tissue, and even BONE are also types of (specialized) connective tissue. We are basically little networks that transmit signals within our bodies and even out into the world.
I recently learned that the electromagnetic field of the pericardium (the connective tissue network around the heart which protects the heart and–in Chinese Medicine theory–helps us to feel/experience our connection to others) is 5,000 times stronger than that of the brain.*
Our brains are amazing, but it is our heart network (the heart and pericardium) in Chinese Medicine allow us to feel and transmit experiences together. When something, or someone, “touches” your heart, it first touches the sac of connective tissue around your heart–the pericardium, also sometimes called the heart protector.
If you’re having trouble connecting with your heart or are feeling bruised or tender connecting to the hearts of others, acupuncture can help you plug back in and find a more expansive connection with the world.
Give me a call or send me an email so that we can talk about how acupuncture might help you blossom and expand this summer.
If you’re intrigued by the heart and pericardium, my summer solstice restorative yoga workshop at Studio 34 “Summer Solstice Restorative Yoga Session: Nurturing Gentle Heart Openers” held at Studio 34 from 7-8:30pm on the actual summer solstice (Friday June 20th) will expand on this topic and will help you relax and experience your own spacious heart. Early bird pricing ends June 10th, and registration is available on the Studio 34 website now! :)
In the spirit of sharing from the heart, I also wanted to share these two photo essays by my husband Hanbit. The first is a recap of West Philly PorchFest. We had an awesome time interviewing our neighbors and ended up walking 11 miles around the neighborhood on Saturday.
On Sunday we celebrated Pride in Center City and ran into more neighbors while photographing so much celebration and joy.
I hope that the warming weather and increased light have brought you comfort and space. May we continue to expand our hearts together.
Monica
